Paul and Daddy visit Mommy at work

Maria worked on Friday, so Paul and I met her for lunch.
It's nice to get some shots of the new PT department at St. Clares.

We were in luck. Maria was just finishing up for the day when Paul and I got there, so after a little baby fun, we were had the rest of the weekend to ourselves.

The new department faces South,
so there's lots of sunshine.

Those dry cheeks need a little help.

So, back home for a little nap.

In the evening, Paul gears up for crawling!

Sunday found us hiking on the other side of Split Rock Reservoir again.
Stunning foliage and a chance to try out the new ultralight stove!

This big hung of fungus
was right along the trail.

I don't think I've ever seen
anything quite like it.

The leaves were very bright, considering
how dry this year has been.

These birch are just glorious.

This shot shows a number
of different species.

After about one hour of hiking we came to the lake on which sits Camp Winebago, a boy scout camp.

Looks like this place is a bee hive
of activity in the Summer.

My shutterbug with her Minolta.

It was a bit breezy, but still shorts-wearing
weather while hiking. The conditions
were really outstanding.

This lake is about 1/2 mile long.

View to the North from the
same spot as the last two frames.

So, back towards the way we came in were some fire rings and picnic tables, so we boiled water on the new stove for re-hydrating some food and making formula.

Paul does seem to enjoy being outdoors.

He really likes being in the baby backpacker.

The little string has been a big hit.

He almost never
complains while riding.

Finally, passing across the Northern end of Split Rock Reservoir, the wind had picked up and gave us a nice view of the East shore.

The entire Split Rock area is spectacular and thus far has avoided much development. Unfortunately, we heard this year that there will be development in the area soon. There are few remaining bodies of water in Northern New Jersey in this pristine condition, so we will enjoy it while we can.
