Actually the last weekend in June,
this was a nice little picnic at The Tourne.

In this section: Various events during the month of July, including
beach fun, on the way to daycare, our abreviated vacation
and just plain fun baby-type stuff!

Early July at the beach! Smoke Rise beach is really a pleasant place to spend time in the Summer. Our boat and our canoe are docked in the background.

This little tent coils up into a flat disc around 20" dia. Very cool.

Here's Paul on his way to day care for the first time in late June. Maria now works about 20 hours a week and Paul is in Bright Horizons day care. They are an excellent service. Paul sees his same group of kids every day. It will be good for him to have social exposure to other kids.

Here's Paul in his booster. This things tilts for easier bottle feeding. We sit it on the dining room table or the family room floor while he eats.

He is now eating lots of jar food! I think that started at around 4.5 months. We avoided fruits in the beginning, per the doctor's suggestions, so he would like his vegetables. Oddly enough, he now won't really eat apples or peaches. He likes bananas OK, but that's about it. We did find that mixing apples with his oatmeal and a little formula works. In fact, he will usually gobble that down for breakfast.

Trip to the John Adams house outside Boston.

Our Summer vacation was to start by visiting Cathy, Bob and Spencer in Ranndolph, Mass., but Maria and Paul got sick, so that was cut short.

Cathy and Bob were great hosts. Our second and last day was spent visiting the John Adams home in Quincy, Massachusetts.

This is a path in the garden.

Here's Bob, Maria with Paul and her sister Cathy.

This is the first Presidential Library. Built out of granite quarried in the area, it was not built in Adams' lifetime, but was built to his specs. It is a real treasure.

The entire estate is fascinating.

Here's the main residence. The section on the right is the original house. They added on the other side first, then several other additions. The history is beautifully preserved inside. I highly recommend a visit to anyone in the Boston area.

Back home!

We had a nest of robin's in the rhododendron outside this window. The nest is just visible here at the top of the frame.

Here's close-up of the baby bird just after leaving the nest. He's in the photo above also. All four left the nest at once after just a couple of weeks of life. We have some film shots of the eggs then babies. Hopefully I'll update this area with those images.

Here's Paul taking a snooze on his "Boppy". He now sits up beautifully on his own. This cushion keeps him from falling over.

Here's Paul in his swing that Aunt Laura bought him. He loves it!

We are now into late July.

Here's the big guy sitting up on his own.

He smiles all the time now. We think his is teething.

Here's Paul with his first baseball!

He couldn't eat it, so we played...

...rolling it to Paul!

Wee!

I think he's going to be a left-handed reliever.

Here's the only good shot from Waterloo Village last weekend (July 27th). It's like a small Williamsburg. In the background is the original Grist mill (left) which still works! I had never seen a working water-powered grist mill before.

On the right is a new sawmill, which also works from hydro power.

While the vacation was spent mostly at home and visiting doctors, we did have
some pleasant times here in the NJ area.
