| Paul and Maria in a rare daytime double nap. | |
This was at a HAPS (Home Studies and Adoption Services of NJ) Picnic. This was sponsored by the Guatemala program and gives parents of Guatemalan-adopted kids a chance to meet and share experiences. It also gives prospective adopting couples an opportunity to learn about the process and of course see the kids! |
| This is Mr. Schaubacher. He grew up in our house. His father transplanted the Rhododendron in this photo from the Great Grandfather's house in 1956 when the family moved in. Apparently there is a family photo of this man in this same cart being pulled by his father. So this photo represents 5 generations of men in the Schaubacher family. He gave a framed copy of this shot to his dad for Father's day. Cool. | |
And now...eating with utensils! |
| ...or something like that ;-) | |
Hey, as long as we're all having fun, |
| Uh-oh, here comes Mommy. | |
Sunday, May 26th, we had our first picnic at the new house. We had a pretty good turnout. |
Amy, Paul, Maria, Bobby and Dana. |
| I got Henry Bossett in this shot too. | |
Margaret, Madelyn and Michael on the swing. |
| Paul loves playing in his house. Believe it or not, we got this thing for $5 at a yard sale. | |
He never makes the same face twice. |
| I just love this whole series of shots. | |
This is a variation on his "crooked smile" face. |
| This is the "mildly amused" look. | |
This is the "Oops, did you see me do that?" look. |
| And this one wins the prize. | |
Tom Vanko (here with Michael) called our yard "Daugherty Park" because of the greenery. Later in the Summer the drought would reduce it to a dull, dormant yard, but at the Picnic it was pretty nice still. I actually never cut the backyard grass from July until this writing (12/02). |
| We picked up the table and chairs along with the bench swing and the tent shelter (background) at Ames and they really helped make the backyard more useful for this sort of thing. | |
Paul loves playing with the Dutch door |
| Ultimately everything grows tiresome, so EXIT! | |
Michael and Daddy. That's Mattie |
| Here's a nice one of the whole Vanko clan. | |
The yard is actually quite large, contrasting |
| Margaret is a "Star" indeed! | |
Michael certainly seems |
| And of course, Maria's dad made an appearance. | |
This is a crop of the shot above. |
| Here's Jim and Maureen's daughter Megan.
What a cutie! |
Paul still absolutely loves this swing. |
| Here's Megan with her brother Patrick.
Look out below! |
This is taken from near Paul's swing. |
| Whee! Mulberry bush action. | |
It's a house party! |
| There's the whole family. | |
Finally, Paul gave a great show with the ice bucket. He was endlessly fascinated putting his hands in the bucket, pulling out chunks, eating some and throwing the rest back. |
| What fun! We will definitely be doing this again. | |
